The Men's 1s had a weekend to remember in Barcelona as they created some Irish Hockey history in the Pau Negre Stadium against some of Europe's best.
The squad had spent weeks in preparation for their first game in Barcelona against Scottish Champions Grange. Their match tipped off the second day of action in the Catalan city with a 9.45am start time or 8.45am Irish time!
The match could not have gone much better as goals from Jody Hosking and Sam Grace had Rovers 2-0 up at half-time. Further goals from Ben Walker, James Walker and Ali Empey, all graduates of the Rovers Youths, sealed an emphatic 5-0 win against Grange and a first ever win for an Irish side in the KO16!

This earned the gents a KO8 match against none other then Rot Weiss Kohn. finalists in 2 of the past 3 seasons! Sunday morning saw the team go toe to toe with the Germans who had no less then 7 Internationals in their squad. The lads went 2-0 down in the first half but a stirring second half performance saw the lads nearly turn the game on it's head and perform what would have been a huge upset against such opposition.
Goals from Ben Walker and Ross Canning where not enough thought as the lads fell to a 4-2 defeat and bowed out of the EHL for another season.

Huge well done to all the squad, management and their supporters who have worked tirelessly to get to this point! The weekend's performance could not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and time from many over years!
Congratulations again to all!
