Over the weekend our "newbies" had their first taste of representing TRRHC as our Under 8 Boys took to the field on Saturday morning against Monkstown and our 1st Class Girls played Monkstown and Pembroke (I will send you through pictures by Whats App).
On Sunday we welcomed Monkstown and Pembroke with their 5th class squads while 2nd, 3rd and 4th class travelled to the same clubs for their first Blitz of the season.
On top of that our 6th class Boys played their first league matches with a win and a draw while our 1st Year girls won one, drew one and lost one.
The Under 14 Boys travelled to Monkstown and came away with a 2-2 draw while our Under 16B Boys beat Wickow in their first game of the season.
The Inter B's drew while the Inter D's lost
Our Under 10 Boys travelled to Monkstown to Sunday afternoon with some great play both individually and as a squad.

In total 280 Youths wore the TRRHC colours this weekend with determination, passion and most importantly fun.

Golden Oldies
Courtesy of Orla McKeown
In September 2019 four members of Three Rock attended the World Golden Oldies Hockey Festival in Vancouver, namely Nick West, David Costello (both Vets members), Órla McKeown (Pavilion Member) and Cillian West (Under 16s member). The festival was being hosted by West Vancouver Hockey Club who will be hosting the Men’s Olympic Play-off between Canada and Ireland later this month.

The World Golden Oldies is a friendly Hockey Festival for over 35s and is played in a different hemisphere every 2 years. This year’s Festival was attended by around 25 Club Teams from Ireland, England, Germany, USA, Canada, Argentina, Chile, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong.

David and Nick played as ever for the Irish Gamesters, a touring team which, despite its name, has players from Canada, England, the US, New Zealand and Australia (many with Irish ancestry) as well as Irish players from Three Rock, Monkstown, Glenanne and Wicklow.

In the article picture you can see (L-R) David, Orla, Cillian and Nick just before the Opening Ceremony where Órla carried the Irish flag in the Parade of Nations through the University of British Colombia.
