Walker waltzes to thirds triple against YM
By Stephen Findlater
After losing the opening league match of the season 2-4 to Rathgar last week, TRR 3s were determined to make amends.
On a sunny and hot Saturday at YMCA TRR fielded a strong side, with Ed returning between the posts and organising the team at the start, from the off we played at a high tempo, creating several opportunities James opening the scoring with a reverse shot from a tight angle squeezing past the keeper (James would go onto score a hatrick!). After more dominant play Trr went 2-0 up, only to concede letting YMCA forwards through at ease. 2-1 became 3-1, then 3-2, 3-3 only for Rovers after an excellent spell to go into half time 4-3.
Ed, Stephen, Roly and Ritchie (going for back to back, club player of the season award) giving a good half time talk, knowing their were likely to a 1-2 goals up for grabs, we started how we began the first half, and from there we never looked back, breaking down YMCA attack and launching a counter attack with pace, width etc. One of which saw Findo go all the way up the park, one two, assist 5-3, Rovers scored again shortly after that to make the score 6-3. We continued to commit going forward and in so doing left gaps for YMCA to exploit, Ed making a few saves, defense held out. We could have scored more but 'Leo' the oppo keeper producing some fine saves.
Let's make that effort to make training on Tues at HQ 18.30 (that's six thirty Dylan...)
JUG'OMeter - 3
James - hatrick jug of coca-cola
Dylan - avoided getting a hatrick jug with 2 goals and thus owes a jug of coca-cola
Defense - as Taps pointed out for conceeding three
