2018/2019 Season

By Jack McCann

Only a few weeks from the start of the new season, dust off those sticks and get stuck into pre-season, which has already started for the ladies!!

New Pitch
The Back pitch was successfully replaced in the past week. This was only possible after support from the National Lottery Sports Capital Grants scheme and the stellar work of Paul Patterson and the team at Tony Patterson Sportsgrounds who got the pitch completeed ahead of schedule and on target!

The ladies section have started back pre-season for the new season this past week. Get in contact with angharad @ for full details!! Pass them onto those who have caught the the bug after the ladies teams heroics in London this summer, the more the merrier!

Masters Hockey
Alongside the exploits of the Irish Ladies in London the Club had plenty of representation at Masters level across the summer to cheer on. Davy Sterrit, Ed Simpson and Rob Johnson were part of the Irish Men's Over 50s side that finished 5th in the Exin Masters World Cup in Barcelona at the end of July. They beat New Zealand 4-1 in the 5th/6th play-off.

At the same time, Cedric Christie was part of the Over 55s squad in Barcelona. Roger West and Rob Haughton represented the Over 60s and Stuart Swizter was part of the Over 65s from earlier in the summer. Congratulations gents!

Subs due soon
Subs will be due very soon, you'll receive notification when that happens. This is just a reminder to get ahead of the game and have them ready to go so that you can pay it as soon as you can once you're notified.

As things stand the Men's start dates are the 15th and the 22nd of September.
Currently the 5ths start their season on the 15th AWAY to Enniscorthy.
While all the Men's sides start the following weekend, the 22nd.
1s vs Banbridge and the 2s vs Monkstown both at HOME
3s vs Rathgar and the 4s vs Naas both AWAY

The Ladies have no confirmed date on the site as yet, but it'll be either the weekend of the 22nd or 29th of September most likely.

Junior Fixtures and schedules will only be confirmed once the respective Boys and Girls meetings have taken place next month.

Road to Barcelona
Once again the Men's firsts will be competing on the European stage this coming OCTOBER. They face Racing Club de France and Junior FC in Round One in Barcelona over the weekend of the 5th-7th.
There will be fundraising initiatives starting very soon to get the squad to Barcelona, if you have any ideas or want to help the squad and Club in anyway get onto us!! All and any help will be hugely appreciated!
