Hope you have all enjoyed the summer and I hate to break the bad news, but PRE-SEASON TRAINING is looming!!!!

A second club has withdrawn from the EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge I reducing the competition to a 6 team single group round robin tournament.

This will ease pressure on Three Rock Rovers as they can now compete knowing that relegation from Challenge I to Challenge II is not possible. The original Turkish and Serbian teams who withdrew will now occupy 7th & 8th spot and thus be relegated to Challenge II for 2011.

The last qualifying teams for the National Indoor Trophy were decided over the weekend and the two groups for Finals weekend have been drawn.

Three Rock Rovers will compete against Monkstown, YMCA and Avoca in Group II with the top two teams qualifying for the semi-finals.

The 2009/2010 season sees the IHA launch two new indoor hockey club competitions The National Mens Indoor Trophy and the National Women’s Indoor Trophy.

Both the Men & Women’s Trophy competitions will be structured as a National Indoor Finals event over one weekend (Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th February 2010) consisting of 6-8 teams. Qualification for the Finals Weekend (Men & Women) will take place through respective qualifying groups.

Phelie Maguire once again saved his best form for the EHL as he smashed a first half hat-trick for KHC Leuven in their 7-1 win over Round 1.2 hosts Paris St Germain.

Maguire – one of Three Rock Rovers’ stand-out performers against Leuven and Atletic Terrassa last year – cracked in a fine opener with a spin and forehand hit before hitting two reverses from the left edge of the circle.

Three Rock Rovers two boys overseas were involved in a Belgian League thriller this weekend with Darling scoring 4 for Leuven in a 4-3 win over rivals Leopold. Follow the link for a match report
